Common questions to raise with your engineer

Ask whether playback azimuth will be checked using a known reference tape, whether transport speed and wow-and-flutter are measured, and if record electronics require verification as well as playback. For ¼-inch half-track stereo machines, ensure the requested operating format matches your tapes.

For high-value recorders, retain written test results and a service report that identifies completed work and outstanding limitations.
